Okay, how many times will the fire department come and change your smoke detector batteries in a year? At least three…..

Do any of you have problems with your parent / patient calling emergency numbers? My mom has also called the police because she was cold. She told them her furnace was not working…..

  1. Deb, although my mom wasn’t officially diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, she suffered from several mini strokes that affected her cognitive abilities. At one point, (during the evening when we had a storm and had lost electricity) she was found wandering around her apartment with a flashlight that she had strategically put her glasses on so she could somehow see better in the dark. So, I can only imagine the struggles. Being diagnosed and suffering from Alzheimer’s is my greatest fear.

Yes, my mom also called emergency services on occasion for trivial or off-the-wall things, but she wouldn’t always remember doing it.

Deb, I can only imagine how frustrating this must be for both you and your mother. What a great step by step tutorial on how to install a lock mailbox complete with specific modifications. Kudos to you for all you do for your mom.
